Albion IS…….A Food Destination!
A group of those interested in supporting the restaurant and food market here in Albion. Please join us for a conversation regarding needs and wants, specifically focused on the food and drink market as we look to not only survive but also thrive as we grow Albion’s palette for a wide variety of dining and entertainment options.
The ARG Group meets the second Monday of each month at 10:00 am at the Kellogg Community College Eastern Academic Center (14055 26 Mile Rd, Albion, MI).
Identified Resources/Focuses:
· Support Supply Park needs for Ford Plant planned for Marshall MegaSite
· Attract and Build Out New Industrial Park
· Attract and Build Out Existing Industrial Park
· Define Ideal Industries to attract to Albion
· Execute on Agreed Upon Timetables to align with community, customer, and partner needs.
Taskforce has decided to meet once a month in order to gain momentum on deliverables. Fourth Wednesday of each month at 1:30 pm.
All residents of the City of Albion are key stakeholders and will continue to be in the future development of our community.
Meetings are held based on the needs and opportunities presented.
Advocate for attainable housing that meets the needs of the City's businesses and workforce and
residents through public and private partnerships to improve the overall housing stock in Albion.
The Albion EDC Workforce Taskforce is comprised of representatives from the Greater Albion Area Chamber of Commerce, Albion College, Kellogg Community College, Marshal Public Schools, Michigan WORKS! Southwest, and Albion EDC Board Members – Annette Norris (subject matter expert) and Ben Wallace (education to employer pipeline). The Workforce Taskforce will identify priorities and strategic initiatives to create a comprehensive approach to workforce development in Albion. The Albion EDC will facilitate the Workforce Taskforce meetings on a bi-monthly basis (six times a year).
We are not able to officially form a CSA Committee and begin the process of competing to become a CSA here in Michigan as slots have not yet been identified and opened. We want to be ready to form an official Committee / Taskforce when that time comes, which we believe will be later this calendar year.
Match on Main is a reimbursement grant program that serves as a tool to support new or expanding place-based businesses by providing up to $25,000 in funding to an eligible small business through an application submitted, administered, and managed by the local unit of government, downtown development authority, or other downtown management or community development organization where the business is located. The Match on Main Taskforce reviews all applications and votes on which ones to move forward to submit to the MEDC.
